about

I never imagined THIS would be the song that made it to the FM airwaves! I wrote it for my family and gave them the recording as a christmas gift. Last month there was a call for local holiday music on my favorite radio station, Fredericksburg’s 95.9 Superhits. So I submitted and they picked it up and played it for their Hometown Holiday Spotlight! It was awful cool to hear the dj say my name and announce my song. John and I recorded it at home, messing around with a glockenspiel and cheap jingle bells. Anyway, thank you for listening, I hope you find some of your own christmas memories somewhere inside of it. Sending warm wishes to all, near and far and farther.

lyrics

Did you load all the gifts into the car?
Who’s got the pie? Can you fit my guitar?
An hour of driving down Route 28
The snow might make us a little bit late
but the radio’s playin’ a jolly good song
and everybody’s singin’ along..

It's a cold December day
Everybody’s right where they should be
Brought my guitar to play
So pick up the melody

When we arrive they all say hello
and come out to greet us in spite of the snow
All the pretty decorations and the lights on the tree
In every corner there’s something to see..

It's a cold December day
Everybody’s right where they should be
Brought my guitar to play
So sing along with me

Everyone’s happy and joyful today
Everyone’s worries are miles away
Those who can’t be here are with us in spirit
If we just sing loud enough for them to hear it..

Laughin’ with the family, singin’ like a choir
Grandad in the armchair, sittin’ by the fire
Same cookin’ as last year and all the same faces
and the same old wish we lived in closer places..

It's a cold December day
Everybody’s right where they should be
Brought my guitar to play
So sing along with me
